CJI Mission statement

The disciplines of Public Safety and Child Protection have become extremely complex and sophisticated, drawing on broad bodies of knowledge derived from law, psychology, system theory, business and administration, medical sciences, human factors, physical fitness education and other areas. The nature of these activities is both diverse and complex, requiring multidisciplinary perspectives as well as integrated efforts that emphasize training/education, research, and service activities.

The skills, knowledge bases and judgments made by those involved in administration of public safety and child protection programming requires a high level of sophistication and expertise. The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) at Nova Southeastern University works closely with other NSU schools/centers to enhance the knowledge base of those currently in the field and to equip future criminal justice professionals with real world skills and career marketability

Featured Program

Ph.D. in Criminal Justice

The Ph.D. in Criminal Justice trains individuals through an interdisciplinary focus in an online environment. The program prepares students through the core curriculum and allows for specialty training through various tracks. The Ph.D. in Criminal Justice opens opportunity in areas of research, academia, and management to those who are ready to advance as well as to individuals considering a career change.

The program facilitates choice for students and fosters the development of specialized expertise. The Ph.D. in Criminal Justice requires successful completion of sixty credit hours that includes core courses, specialty track courses and dissertation. This program is pending review and approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
