Overall, the Residency year is in preparation to function effectively and autonomously as a psychologist.
Goals
The goals of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Psychology include:
- To develop advanced clinical skills, including:
- psychological assessments and report writing
- competency in working with multicultural populations
- To develop advanced levels of research skills
- To develop professional supervision skills of interns & graduate/undergrad students
- To develop advanced levels of teaching skills
- To develop advanced levels of program evaluation and grant writing skills
- To develop professional socialization
Objectives
The objectives of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Psychology include:
- Resident will participate in opportunities which will develop and improve research and grant writing skills and participate in seeking grant funding from federal agencies.
- Resident will provide clinical services, assessments, interventions and report writing to a diverse population with competencies of entry-level and continue to improve and gain new skills as a clinician.
- Resident will provide instruction to faculty, practitioners and students.
- Resident will participate in program development and evaluation and prepare for a career in an academic environment.
- Resident will provide consultation services to relevant constituents.
