Goals and Objectives

Overall, the Residency year is in preparation to function effectively and autonomously as a psychologist.

Goals

The goals of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Psychology include:

  1. To develop advanced clinical skills, including:
    1. psychological assessments and report writing
    2. competency in working with multicultural populations
  2. To develop advanced levels of research skills
  3. To develop professional supervision skills of interns & graduate/undergrad students
  4. To develop advanced levels of teaching skills
  5. To develop advanced levels of program evaluation and grant writing skills
  6. To develop professional socialization
Objectives

The objectives of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Psychology include:

  1. Resident will participate in opportunities which will develop and improve research and grant writing skills and participate in seeking grant funding from federal agencies.
  2. Resident will provide clinical services, assessments, interventions and report writing to a diverse population with competencies of entry-level and continue to improve and gain new skills as a clinician.
  3. Resident will provide instruction to faculty, practitioners and students.
  4. Resident will participate in program development and evaluation and prepare for a career in an academic environment.
  5. Resident will provide consultation services to relevant constituents.
